West Woods
Extensive nearby woodland for fabulous walking. West Woods are within walking distance of the lodge; follow directions for Lord Whisky (above) and car park / main entrance is on right before the Tea Rooms.
Stelling Minnis Windmill
CT4 6AF (2.5 miles)
Turn left onto Stone Street and take the first right (Curtis lane) after a mile or so towards Stelling Minnis. Mill Lane is 1/2 mile or so on your right. Cream Teas and Windmill Tours on Summer Sundays 2-5pm.
Edards & Spong Woods
Walk back up to Stone Street but don’t cross it. Instead take the lane on sharp left and after 0.5 mile turn right onto Misling Lane. There is a bridle path on the next bend which takes you down through the Bluebell woods with possible deer sitings and orchids in the spring. Then walk around the field in the valley and up the hill back onto Misling Lane.
Canterbury City (15 Minutes)
The historic City of Canterbury with its ancient Cathedral, Cobbled Streets and walk-on City Walls is only 15 minutes drive away. Extensive attractions including the Marlowe Theatre, Odeon and Curzon Cinemas, Historic River Tours, Canterbury Tales, Ghost Tour, Medieval Hospital and much more
Wild Animal Parks
The Port Lympne Reserve (15 mins) and Howletts Wild Animal Park (20 mins) are also close by - albeit in opposite directions. As part of the Aspinall Animal Conservation Foundation, they offer the opportunity to see a wide range of rare and endangered animals in spacious and well cared for environments.

Dover Castle (25 Minutes)
Standing guard over the channel, the English Heritage site of Dover Castle features the Great Tower, an Underground Hospital, Wartime Tunnels and an Immersive Bunker Experience! Well worth a visit as are the nearby White Cliffs.

The Channel Tunnel
Gateway to Europe is 1 junction further down the M20 - a mere 15 minutes away for a day trip to France for lunch and shopping.
Further away but within an hours drive are Leeds Castle (near Maidstone), the Cinque Ports (Sandwich, Dover, Hythe, New Romney & Hastings), Folkestone, Whitstable and the Head Ports (Winchelsea & Rye).

The 13 3⁄4-mile (22.1 km) line runs from the Cinque Port of Hythe via Dymchurch, St. Mary's Bay, New Romney and Romney Sands to Dungeness, close to the Nuclear Power Station and Dungeness Lighthouse. Operational most days. Approx 15 minute Drive from the Tree House.

Its a bit further away and not exactly cheap - but a trial helicopter lesson is a fantastic gift to yourself or someone else and a magical way to see this part of Kent!
Based in Manston Airport, Polar Helicopters is about a 40 minutes drive. Super friendly and accommodating, they offer a range of trial lessons and charter flights.
